Ministry Description
Sonny Childs is a
graduate of both Crowley's Ridge
College in Paragould, Arkansas
and Harding University in
Searcy, Arkansas. He began his
full-time work for the Lord as a
youth minister responsible for a
group of over 100 young people.
In the years before and after,
he was blessed to serve as
pulpit minister for growing
congregations in Arkansas and
Illinois.
In 1996, God allowed Sonny to
realize his dream to work as a
full-time traveling evangelist.
God used his books and
motivational speaking abilities
to open many doors for service
across the nation. Today he is a
nationally known author and
speaker among the churches of
Christ. He has been blessed to
speak on TV, radio, in public
schools, prisons, and to
numerous religious groups.
This ministry publishes books,
Bible study guides and
newsletters that are used in
Bible classes around the world.
His materials can be found in
many Christian bookstores
throughout the nation, in the
"21st Century Christian Catalog"
and on the "Publications" page
of this site.
Each year, Sonny and his family
travel from coast to coast
conducting Gospel meetings,
family values seminars and youth
events. As a unique part of
their ministry, Sonny, Cindy,
Bryson and Gabriel travel
together as a family. Cindy
homeschools their boys allowing
them to accept engagements
throughout the entire year.
Ministry Finances
This ministry operates
in the same way as do many
foreign missions. As
“Missionaries to America”,
support is raised from
individuals and congregations
who believe in the effectiveness
of this work. Please give
prayerful consideration to
helping us. Regular reports
about the progress and future
plans of this ministry are sent
to all supporters.
Ministry Results
In just the last few
years, God has opened doors for
Sonny and his family to travel
hundreds of thousands of miles
from coast to coast conducting
Gospel meetings, family values
seminars and youth events.
Countless thousands have been
touched by this ministry and
hundreds have responded publicly
for prayer, rededication and
baptism. May God receive all the
glory!

Engagement Information
Engagement Fees: This ministry is based upon faith.
There are no set fees or financial expectations when
accepting engagements. We do, however, request three
things of congregations wishing to hold a meeting:
1. Lodging, travel expenses and food. Sonny, Cindy,
Bryson and Gabriel travel as a family.
2. Donation, of whatever amount the congregation can
afford.
3. Opportunity to make books and materials available
should the leadership feel it would be helpful. Sonny
has written over 30 books on various subjects to
complement his sermons.
Weekend Workshops
The Power of PowerPoint
“A picture is worth a thousand words.” Jesus knew and
used this principle long before it was “a wise old
adage.” He pointed to a fruitless tree to illustrate the
tragedy of an unproductive life. He took a child on His
knee to show the value of innocence. Jesus, the greatest
of all teachers, knew the value of a visual
illustration.
Weekend Workshops employ the same techniques that Christ
used in the first century. With a PowerPoint
presentation, the audience can both see and hear
messages that impact the senses and, thereby, take root
in the heart.
Should you decide to host a Weekend Workshop, please
know that the Sonny Childs Ministries is able to provide
all that is necessary for the PowerPoint presentation
(projector, computer, screen). Please consider giving
your congregation the opportunity to experience the
power of one of these PowerPoint presentations.
Topics for Weekend Meetings
Islam- America’s Babylon?
Islam is now the fastest growing religion in the world.
Islam is coming! Is your family ready? This important
seminar both informs and prepares Christians to face the
threat of the Muslim world view.
G.A.S. Can Set a Church on Fire!
Churches all across America are closing their doors for
lack of interest. We can and must return to the
first-century approach to church growth. This important
seminar uses the acronymn G.A.S. from Acts 2 to revisit
the biblical keys to growing a church.
It Takes a Family!
The very definition of marriage is now under attack. As
“alternative lifestyles” grow in popularity, it is
vitally important that we both know and defend God’s
plan for the family. This important seminar defines
roles within the home and offers solutions for
“disfunctional families.”
Parenting and Loving It!
The average child in America today spends more of their
waking hours in an institution than they do with their
own parents. As a result, it is estimated that 45% of
our young people walk away from the church upon
graduation from high school. This important seminar
helps parents and grandparents rediscover the joys of
raising children in the Lord.
Simple Soul Winning
Soul winning is as simple as making friends and
introducing them to your best friend, Jesus. This
important seminar provides information and inspiration
that can turn any Christian into a dynamic soul winner.
I’m A Christian, Now What?
Don’t convert them and desert them. This seminar is a
must for churches that wish to develop an effective new
converts program.
Weekend Workshop Schedule
Each Weekend Workshop involves five lessons. The times
for these lessons can be arranged in whatever way the
church leadership feels is best. Below is an example
schedule.

7:00 Lesson one
Saturday
Youth rally option: Sonny could speak to the youth in
the morning and afternoon on a complementary topic.

6:45 Break for snacks
7:00 Lesson three
Sunday

Youth Events
Sonny Childs is a popular author and motivational
speaker on teen topics. Every year he speaks to hundreds
of young people all across the nation. Below is a list
of some of the presentations he is often asked to
deliver. Each series has three lessons but can be
expanded to five depending upon the event.
The Dating Game
Dating is serious business. This series looks at the
attraction, the date and the wedding bells.
Big, Dumb and Ugly
There is nothing admirable about a wasted life. This
series targets several of the role model rejects of the
Bible and presents stern warnings about the way life has
an ugly ending when it is not lived by God’s standards.
Teens Can Be Soul Winners
Teens are not the church of tomorrow. If they are
Christians they must be expected to act as the church of
today. This series gives teens the motivation and
material to make them effective soul winners.
Days of Our Life
Nothing is more important than your journey with God.
This series examines the importance of a past, present
and future walk with God.
If You Dance With the Devil..."
This sobering series addresses the dangerous world of
the occult.
Acts to the Max!
Few books are more important to the work of the church
than the book of Acts. This entertaining series helps
young people memorize important chapter topics, events
and geographical sites from this book.
Bible Geography
Location is everything! This important series helps
young people remember the location of important events
in the Bible.
Other Topics
Since Sonny has over 25 years of experience of working
with young people, he is often asked to address many
subjects other than the ones listed above. Sonny has
written many books for teens and can effectively speak
on those subjects also. Go to the "Publications" page of
this site to see those titles. In addition, Sonny is
often assigned other teen topics and is happy to discuss
that option with you as well.

This
following information is a
summary of our work during each
month this year.
January
Highlights
This month
began with the conclusion to a
very successful M.A.P. Retreat.
Over 60 people attended. The
next weekend I was blessed to
speak 3 times in Bernie, MO,
(there were 6 public responses)
and another in Jonesboro, AR.
Mid-month, Bryson attended
Winterfest, a gathering of
several thousand Christian young
people in Arlington, TX. At the
end of the month I was blessed
to speak 4 times at a seminar on
"Successful Suffering" from
Job. This event for senior
saints was hosted by the
Southwest Church of Christ. It
was a great honor to be
invited. In all, the month of
January presented me with
19
opportunities to speak and being
blessed to witness 7 public
responses for prayer and 3 for
baptism.
February
Highlights
The first
half of this month was spent at
home. While there, I was
blessed to complete a booklet
entitled "To Heaven for Sure!",
a verse by verse study of 1 John
1. You can read this material
on sonnychilds.com. I also
spoke 9 times for our home
congregation. The end of the
month was spent on the road.
God protected us while traveling
5 hours into central Illinois
through a treacherous sleet
storm. Once there, I was
blessed to speak 12 times in
defense of the Sonship of
Christ. The theme for the
8-lesson seminar and 4-lesson
revival was the question, "Is
Allah Jehovah?" The month ended
with celebrations of my 45th
birthday. In all, February gave
us the
opportunity to address 22
audiences for the Lord. God
is good!
March Highlights
This month
opened with the family and me in
southern Illinois. We were
finishing up 3 meetings in 10
days, during which I was blessed
to speak 14 times. After
speaking twice on Sunday, March
1, the family and I loaded up
and headed for home. The next
Sunday I spoke for our home
congregation, then it was off to
the Pittsburgh, PA, area where I
spoke 5 times on “The Agony and
Glory of the Cross”. After 4
days at home, we headed toward
southern Louisiana for a string
of meetings at various
congregations in the Amite, LA,
area. In all, March gave me the
opportunity to speak 17 times in
4 different states.
April Highlights
This month
opened with the final days in
our Louisiana adventure. In all
I was blessed to speak 10 times
at 4 different congregations.
It was a great trip! The rest
of the month was spent at home
preparing for our insanely full
summer schedule. A gravel
parking lot was spread, a new
shower was added to the boys'
cabin, insulation was blown into
the attic of the new M.A.P.
building and the floor was
painted and sealed. While at
home, I was also blessed to
develop and present a new series
of lessons entitled, "Storming
the Gates of Hell, Methods of a
Militant Christian" from 2
Corinthians 10:1-5. In all, the
month of April presented the
opportunity for me to speak 22
times.
May
Highlights
The month
opened with 2 weeks of much
needed time at home. We were
blessed to accomplish several
jobs bringing the new building
near completion. The middle of
the month was spent in the
Berea/Winchester, KY, area. I
spoke to the youth group of the
Berea Christian Church, attended
a homeschooling graduation and
spoke 6 times at a revival for
the Belmont Church of Christ.
The last week of May brought on
a much quicker pace as we made
final preparations for all the
young people to arrive.
Cabinets were finished,
refrigerators and appliances
were moved in, stalls were built
in the restrooms and general
clean up dominated every waking
hour. In all, May gave us the
opportunity to address 22
audiences in Arkansas and
Kentucky |
